A "bet and get" promo means you place a qualifying first bet (a minimum stake set by the book) and receive bonus betsin return. On many of these offers you get the bonus bets whether your first bet wins or loses. On others, the first bet has to win. The terms tell you which.

The part that trips people up: bonus bets usually aren't cash. On most US books, when a bonus bet wins you're paid the profit only, not the bonus bet stake.

Worked example:
  • You get a $50 bonus bet and put it on a +200 underdog
  • A $50 cash bet at +200 would return $150 total ($100 profit + $50 stake)
  • The $50 bonus bet typically returns just the $100 profit
  • If it loses, you get nothing back
That's why many bettors use bonus bets on plus-money odds. You're not risking your own cash, so a bigger payout matters more than a higher hit rate.

Read the terms before you opt in. Look for: - Minimum odds on the qualifying bet - Whether the qualifying bet has to win - Whether bonus bets come in one piece or are split into smaller ones - How many days you have before they expire - Which states the offer applies in

Promos change often and differ by state, so check the book's own promo page and terms rather than ads or old screenshots.

What's been your experience with these offers? Any tips on using bonus bets, or terms that caught you off guard?
