Short answer: no. As of November 2026, sports betting is still not legal in Texas, online or in person.

A few things Texans ask about a lot:
  • Why can I see DraftKings in Texas? That's daily fantasy sports (DFS), which is offered in Texas. It's not the same as a sportsbook. You can't place traditional bets like spreads or moneylines.
  • What would it take to legalize? Most proposals have been written as constitutional amendments, which need a two-thirds vote in both chambers and then approval by voters.
  • When could it change? The Texas Legislature meets in odd-numbered years, so the next regular session starts in January 2027.
  • Can I drive to another state? Yes. If you're 21+ and physically inside a legal state (Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Colorado and more), you can bet there.
Texans: would you vote for legal sports betting if it reached the ballot? And where do you go to bet right now?
