Short answer: it depends on your sportsbook's house rules and the sport. Usually, if a game is rescheduled within the book's time window, your bet stands. If it isn't, the bet is voided (cancelled) and your stake is refunded. There is no single rule across all books.

Example: an NFL summary (Action Network, last updated 2024):
  • FanDuel / DraftKings: the game generally has to be played within the same scheduling week
  • BetMGM / Caesars: within 7 days
  • At all four, a game stopped partway generally needs at least 55 minutes played for bets to stand. Books have extra fine print on top of that.
House rules change, so check your book's current rules page or ask support before relying on this.

Baseball works differently. Rainouts, suspended games and doubleheaders are common, and MLB rules often depend on: - How many innings were completed (often 4.5 or 5 for full-game bets) - Whether the game finishes the same day or gets picked up later - Whether you bet a listed pitcher or action (if a listed starter is scratched, a listed-pitcher bet may be voided)

Parlays: if one leg is voided, most books drop it and recalculate the parlay at shorter odds.

Worked example: a $50 bet on a game that's rained out and not rescheduled within the window gets voided, and the $50 goes back to your balance.

Has a postponement ever burned you, or saved you? Which book do you think has the clearest rules on this?
